Glorious are the days when the printer hums!
Folks, we have another Print Day in hand.
Usually, in these issues, I show you a tiny glimpse of the games I’ve printed, throw in a clue or two, and make you guess. But not today.
I’m taking the path less travelled and revealing all three games right here. So take a chill pill this Friday and see what I printed!
Echoes of Tomorrow by Alec Hoptroff
In this 18-card game, you are trapped inside a never-ending nightmare where your regrets from the past, worries about the future, and insecurities about the present have taken the form of mythical creatures.
To escape, you must gather enough strength and courage to defeat them. But whenever you fail, the nightmare leaves behind a memory that makes you stronger for the nights ahead.
Now THAT is a brilliant concept! I used to geek out over lucid dreams (where you can control your dreams), so Echoes of Tomorrow has already piqued my interest.
Rooftop Roses by Chris Backe
In this game, you live in a 75-story skyscraper with a communal rose garden way up on the roof. A peaceful little place where everyone can plant flowers, water them, and enjoy the view.
But, of course, everyone wants the best part of the garden.
So you roll three dice, use two to decide where your rose will be planted, and use the final one to water a row or column. Every flower helps you fight for control of its row and column, so this cozy rooftop garden can get competitive rather quickly.
I’m getting a therapeutic-game-meets-turf-war vibe from this one. Let’s see how ruthless rose-planting can get, haha!
Centi by Florian Fiedler
This game combines two of my favorite things: a deck of cards and polyominoes!
You draft cards from a shared market and use them to build five-card poker hands. At the same time, every drafted card gives you a polyomino shape to draw onto your bonus sheet. Fill its different sections, and you begin unlocking multipliers and other useful abilities.
The first player to reach 100 points wins, so it becomes a race between building stronger hands and unlocking the right bonuses.
That sounds right up my alley! Consider me enticed.
And there you have it. Three completely different games printed and ready to go.
Curious why I revealed everything instead of putting you through my usual guessing routine?
Because all three are part of PnP Bundle #1, a collection of print-and-play games brought to life by Chris Backe and Florian Fiedler.
I’ve been following PnP Bundle for quite a while. I also wrote about the inaugural contest when Chris and Florian opened the doors for indie designers to submit their games and potentially become part of the bundle.
So I was stoked when Alec’s Echoes of Tomorrow was selected as the winner (I voted for it, hehe). And now I’m beyond stoked to see Rooftop Roses and Centi pairing up with it to complete the collection.
The campaign is set to launch in about three days. More than 500 folks are already glued to it, so I can already guess this one is gonna be big!
Follow PnP Bundle #1 on Gamefound and get notified when the campaign goes live.
I can’t wait to play all three and share my take with you folks!
