The best bit of game events is the fresh concepts that come to life. Ones we don’t get to see every day.
Last year, Micro May had me surprised with OQUO.
My first ever 3D print-and-play.
A tiny game. Just a handful of pieces. But it was rich, because it carried something with it. A sense of history.
A game passed down by nomads for generations, played under open skies, shaped by people who never needed rulebooks to begin with…
And somehow, thanks to one indie creator, it landed on my table. That felt special.
And now, a year later, here we are again. Another first, just on a different platform. Gamefound.
It’s Iron Quest. A 3D roll-and-write!

Iron Quest: The First Ember
From what I’ve seen so far, it’s doing something really interesting. You’ve got your dice. Your decisions. Your usual roll-and-write flow. A catchy theme. But layered on top of that, there are physical elements that can become part of the experience.
And it’s not mandatory. You can play it fully without needing to 3D print stuff. The core game holds up on its own. But if you do have access to a 3D printer, there’s this extra layer waiting.
Not gatekeeping the experience, but expanding it. Loved that.
That’s what got me thinking…
A game like Iron Quest already has such a fresh hook. A 3D roll-and-write is not something you bump into every day.
If only there were an amazing micro event on Gamefound to house it too. It deserves that spotlight.
Gamefound, what’s stopping you from hosting a micro event? Say, a Pocket Play Feb? February is short anyway. Let the small games take over! 😃
Anyway, Iron Quest is up next on my table. And I can’t wait to share how it plays. Give its Gamefound page a peek.
