What a week!
A dream for a PNP enthusiast
Playing an incredible PNP game + Featuring a game designer + Preparing for the launch of my first-ever PNP game.
All at once!
If that’s got your attention, dive in.
Playing an incredible PNP game | Krig
My appetite for PNP games keeps evolving; and lately, I’ve a knack of playing fast-paced, competitive games with a decent balance of luck and tactics. Lucky for me, Alejandro Díaz reached out to me to try a game he originally released in 2019, as he planned to launch an updated version with new mechanics: Krig.
I tried both versions of Krig with my friends, the one released in 2019 and the updated version that Alejandro provided for me to playtest. After playing both versions for over a week, it’s safe to say that the update is quite a leap!
The 2019 version swung more towards luck than tactics, and the latest version certainly took care of it. It’s actually my first PNP game that involves polyhedral dice, and I really enjoyed it. The printable board for Krig is already on my list for potential rethemes. I love customizing games!

Featuring a game creator | Radek Ignatów
While review videos or blogs for games are widely available, game creators are not often talked about.
I believe there’s a lot to learn from game creators, and many can be genuinely inspired to start designing games after reading about their journeys and design process. Besides, they deserve the spotlight! It’s the least the creators deserve for providing us with amazing experiences through their games.
With that in mind, I initiated a very special series on our website pnptime.com, named ‘Minds behind Games’. In this series, we are featuring game creators who have inspired us; and we kicked it off with Radek Ignatów!

Here’s a question we asked Radek:
What inspired you to start designing games, and how did your journey begin?
I have been designing games since childhood, purely for fun. I’ve always been a loner, and ever since I encountered my first games and RPG systems, I immediately began inventing my own. I’ve practically been at it forever—over 30 years of game design to date. However, it should be noted that for most of that time it was entirely an amateur pursuit, done simply for the joy of it. While people might paint pictures or build models, I was busy designing games. Ninety-nine percent of them were never even shown to anyone. I even created my own versions of Magic: The Gathering when I was about 10 years old, as well as wargames inspired by computer games (for example, Warcraft). It was only in 2018 that I decided to pursue game design commercially and share my projects with others.
Preparing for launch!
Any guess what’s happening here?

Escape the Living Library is set to launch in PNP Arcade; as long as it gets approved. Fingers crossed! I had half a mind to launch a Kickstarter campaign, but being my first go at a PNP game, I thought of taking it easy. I might take a swing at my second PNP though!
Till next week, gamers!
