Nominate your favorite print-and-play!
A fresh BGG contest that caught my eye

How exactly did you start your print-and-play journey?
I started mine with free games.
Back in 2023, it was just me and the simple joy of finding a free game on BoardGameGeek, printing a few sheets, grabbing whatever bare components were needed, and seeing if there was magic in it. Quite often, there was. Ah, good old days.
Even now, some of those early discoveries still find their way back to me. Galdor's Grip stays in my backpack as an entertainment partner for my commute. Escape of the Dead still scratches my brain with its wonderful balancing of opportunity cost. I enjoyed Lantern so much that I ended up creating a colored version of it. It's available on BGG, with 650+ folks having already downloaded and played it!

There is something endearing about free games that earn their place over time. And maybe that is why this contest on BoardGameGeek instantly caught my eye.
A nomination geeklist is up as part of an event, with the spotlight fully on free print-and-play games. Folks are allowed to nominate up to 10 games that fit the requirements, which are listed there as PnP titles that are free, underrated, and barely require any components.
There are tons of free PnPs like these that introduced many of us to this wonderful hobby. And behind them are wonderful indie game designers who poured their heart into them. That is why a contest like this feels worth sharing. It gives some love back to the games that helped shape so many of our early steps into print-and-play, and still find their way back to our tables.
So if you have a few favorites of your own, this might be a fun chance to give them a nod. And in the rare case you do not end up nominating anything, browsing through the list alone could point you toward a few free gems worth printing! What are you waiting for?
Big props to my friend Benjamin (KingChrysanthos) for pointing me to this contest!
