Good news, bad news
Launch of a game, closure of a beloved PnP platform

Should I start with the good news or the bad news?
Let’s go with the good.
Good news
Today marks the launch of Quickdraw on Kickstarter, and I’m quite excited. And that’s coming from someone who mostly leans toward solo games.
I’ve spent a fair bit of time with the game, playing it over a dozen times, and found it quite sharp and intense. It captures the western shootout feel really well and makes for a neat addition to any 1v1 collection. It might even make it to my personal “18-card hall of fame,” which currently houses games like Galdor’s Grip. Time will tell!
If you’re up for a 1v1 duel that lasts about 10 minutes and offers thousands of possible duel setups, go for it.
Bad news
Now for the tougher part.
PnP Arcade has announced that they’re closing. And that really stings.
PnP Arcade played a huge role at the very start of my PnP journey. I spent hours browsing their collection, discovering games, and even finding my first-ever PnP, Escape of the Dead 1. That was followed by All Is Bomb, Orchard, Oh My Lair, and so many others...
There are barely any platforms out there that focus solely on purchasing print-and-play games. Losing one like PnP Arcade leaves a noticeable gap in the ecosystem. And our hearts.
PnP Arcade officially closes on 29th January, so you still have a bit of time to grab your favorite games. They also have a solid collection of free titles, so it’s well worth visiting before the doors close.
But there’s hope
In their announcement, one particular line stood out:
“But we want PnP Arcade to continue even if it takes a new shape.”
That gives me hope.
I’ve spoken to a few folks in the community and some game designers who are actively thinking about solutions. That’s honestly amazing to see. The PnP community is closely knit and resilient, so I’m sure we’ll find a way out.
Whether PnP Arcade returns in a new form, or something entirely new rises in its place, time will tell. But it better happen fast!
