First of many!

Your first-ever PnP newsletter is here.

It’s been a pretty interesting week for me, to say the least. Being a blogger and game publisher, it’s fun to indulge in print-and-play games from multiple perspectives, and this week’s newsletter is all about it!

So, what did I do this week?

In a line- I’ve been a detective, got chased by ghosts in a haunted library, and played chess like never before!

A Detective

I had the opportunity to try out the first episode of The Secret of Langton Manor, an escape-room-themed game published by Bromelain Games. And I found it highly intriguing.

Are you a fan of binge-watching detective/crime series? Then you’ll love this! For close to 1.5 hours, I was completely immersed in the Manor and its secrets and had a blast solving all the puzzles. Which there were many!

I gave Episode 1 (free) a shot, and can’t wait to try the remaining two episodes (paid).

The Haunted Library

Imagine being trapped in a spooky library, and you are 6 floors away from escaping it. The catch? The section-specific ghosts.

It’s been 4 months since I’ve been developing Escape the Living Library, and I’m hoping to launch it at the end of February. It’s a solo roll-and-play 2D side-scrolling game, that I’m planning (hopefully) to launch at pnparcade.

And all you need to play the game is 6 dice and 1 or 2 pieces of paper.

The game is currently undergoing the final series of playtests, after which we’ll head on to the tutorial/playthrough video, the manual, submitting the game for approval, etc.

Launching a game can get quite intense though. As much as I love designing and playtesting games, I tend to dodge working on the Manual. It gets on my nerves!

Soldier’s Chess

One of the perks of being a blogger is connecting with incredible game designers, and getting a sneak peek at their upcoming releases. And Soldier’s Chess has been the game of the week for me.

Published by New Guard Studios, the game upgrades traditional chess into a battlefield where you lead, flank, heal, and outmaneuver your opponent in a modern infantry showdown! The Kickstarter campaign for the game launched a few days ago, and my little team and I are currently playtesting it. We are expecting to release a review article on it in a week or so.

The prognosis so far? The depth that the game offers is spot on!
