Hello hello, it’s Tas AKA Rick O'Connell here. In the depths of an abandoned (duh) tomb. With the task of mapping it out and of course... fight some monsters. What’s a tomb without a good old mummy?

Of course, it’s not Imhotep.

...Or is it?

Watch me play a round of Hidden Realms: The Mummy's Tomb! Let’s see if I can make the most out of round #06.

So far, the journey has been steady, but not as fruitful as I’d like it to be. Scored some gold, mapped a decent portion... but the Monster Log worries me. I haven’t even attacked the mummy once.

That definitely needs to change this round.

Ready for the 6th round!

Roll of dice: 3 and 3.

Welp. That can’t be good.

It’s best if the dice values are different, because then I get to use different polyomino shapes. Having identical numbers leaves me with fewer choices. So, it’s best if I use one of my spare gold coins and add/subtract the value of one die.

Better be 4!

With a 4, I can also attack the green golem. I already have that and its stone. Attacking it gives me 3 gold coins (I’m rich for now) and my first attack at Le Mummy. HERE we go.

Investing 1 gold coin to increase the value of a die, only to get 3 gold coins in return? This is business.

this is business

Used up the 3 turned 4, now I need to focus on my remaining die (3) on the map. I feel it’s best if it goes near the center, where I need to expand properly.

How about I expand my mapping network and seal the yellow golem stone at the same time? Sounds like a plan. Using the polyomino that keeps all ends open should help.

Yellow golem, I’m coming for you next round…

Now then, that ends the round...? Nope.

I have 5 gold coins at my disposal. I can easily spend a couple of them to get another dice roll. Or use up four of them to gain two dice rolls!

Let’s do it. Got to speed things up now.

Using them up, rolling the dice... and it’s a 4 and 4.

What’s with doubles this round?!

Hmm... where do I place them? Should I use up the only gold coin I have to change the value of one die?

What I can do is...

With one of those 4s, I can seal this passage and grab that key and treasure chest. This sweet little combo can help me earn 2 gold coins and attack the mummy if I place a 5 in the Monster Log next round.

With the other 4, this one also goes to the map. Using the L-like shape from the Tile Table one more time, I can extend a path and gain my first Ooze of the game. Ooze turns into a skeleton, defeating which will give me 3 gold coins and yet another strike at the mummy, which I can do as early as next round!

End of a fantastic round

So there you have it, one full round of Hidden Realms: The Mummy's Tomb.

Notice how I started with 2 dice, yet ended up taking 4 shots at the map and the monsters? That’s the beauty of the game.

Plan well. Make the best out of them polyominoes. Don’t ignore the monsters. Definitely don’t ignore the Mummy.

Will I see you at the tomb?

- Tas.
