A visual playthrough: Episode 4

One floor of Escape the Living Library

Stuck in a haunted library in the dead of night...

Eerie creatures are coming at me from every direction. I’m somehow staying alive (cue: Bee Gees) with my Knowledge, Stamina, and the little bit of Defense my books are giving me as a shield. Can I actually make it out?

I somehow survived the History and Art floor. Now it’s time to enter the Fiction section.

Hopefully I don’t become fiction by the end of this round...

The good news: my HP is still untouched. For now. Though I have a feeling that’s about to change…

Dice roll: 6 and a 5.

Great numbers. I might be able to fly through this floor. But first, where do I place them on the chart?

If I put 6 in gain and 5 in lose, my Defense goes up by 4, but my Knowledge drops to 1. That feels risky..

Or I could put 5 in gain and 6 in lose... but that would mean I basically gain/lose nothing!

Okay, I’ve got to take the risk.

I’ll take the Defense boost. Knowledge drops to 1, but I need the protection.

  • Knowledge= 1

  • Stamina= 4

  • Defense=4

Time to move.

I can move either 6 or 5 spaces based on the dice roll, and of course I’m choosing 6. It gets me farther, and there’s no trap there. Huge relief.

Now that movement is done, it’s time for the floor penalty. This floor knocks down one unit of Defense, so that drops to 3.

Honestly, not too bad. If I roll a 4 or higher next round, I could get out of this floor pretty quickly!

Next dice roll: 1 and 2.

Well. I jinxed it.

That’s bad. No way I’m leaving the 3rd floor this round…

I could put 2 in gain and 1 in lose to gain 1 Defense, but that would cost me 1 Stamina.

And honestly, that 1 Knowledge is terrifying me. If I don’t fix it now, next round could go very badly…

Darn it.

1 to gain, 2 to lose it is.

  • Knowledge= 3

  • Stamina= 4

  • Defense= 2

And I really don’t have much to work with here for movement. Just 1 or 2 steps. So 2 it is.

And of course... there’s a DEFENSE TRAP. My Defense drops to 1. No!

Then the floor penalty kicks in again, taking 1 more Defense. Since vitals can’t go below 1, the damage spills over to HP.

Nooooo! My HP! Just as I feared…

I really need to get out of this floor next round.

Next dice roll: 6 and 1. Yes!

This one’s easy. I’m putting 6 into gain to get 2 Defense, and losing 1 Stamina.

  • Knowledge= 3

  • Stamina= 3

  • Defense= 3

That’s actually looking pretty decent.

Now it’s time to move, and with that 6, I’m out of here. No floor penalty when you jump floors.

Annnnd Fiction is done!

Whew. That floor dragged on longer than I expected…

Now, before starting the fourth floor, Literature, I need to choose: increase ONE vital by a unit, or roll the dice for a wild outcome.

What made you think I’d play it safe? I’m going wild.

Dice roll: 3.

That means I lose 1 HP. HP drops from 2 to 1. OR...

I reroll! I have 2 rerolls for wild rounds, and for once my memory actually came through for me.

Okay, here goes.

Dice roll: 1. Perfect!

I gain 1 unit in every vital. All of them go up to 4. I’m on fire!

Well...

Level 4 looks absolutely brutal with all three vitals acting as floor penalties.

But with 2 HP and all vitals at 4, I might just make it out alive.

Or will I?

- Tas.

AI stocks. Metals. Crypto.

Surprise, surprise; gold crashed 16%. Silver plunged 34%. Bitcoin dropped to 1 year lows.

All supposedly "uncorrelated" assets moving in lockstep largely because of overleveraged margin.

JPM strategists warn that the same leverage is still a risk.

Those markets may be recovering now, but cascading liquidations could trigger quickly across several asset classes simultaneously.

So much for diversifying away risk, right?

But get this–

70,819 everyday investors have allocated $1.3 billion fractionally across 500+ exclusive investments.

Not real estate or PE… Blue-chip art. Sounds crazy, right?

Now it’s easy to invest in art featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso, thanks to Masterworks.

They do the heavy lifting from acquisition to sale, so you can diversify with the strategy typically limited to the ultra-wealthy.

(Past sales delivered net returns like 14.6%, 17.6%, and 17.8% on works held longer than a year.)*
