On Repeat!
A game I can't stop playing (and it's FREE)
It’s been more than a week since I featured Lizard’s Lair on my website through a preview article. Having played the game for more than two weeks, I thought of giving it some rest.
But it seems like I got a liking for the reptilian life, and now I’m hooked building lairs to score some eggs! So while the game rests patiently on my table on week 4, let me point out why I like it.
FYI: Lizard’s Lair is a solo tile-laying puzzle game by Katie Andrews where you're a lizard. You’re navigating a lair, collecting eggs, dodging snakes, and adapting to the ever-changing tiles of the underground.
1. Breezy rounds with a target
The game duration was 15 minutes, and it’s slowly shrinking to 10. So whenever I’m free, I’m squeezing in 2 to 3 rounds of the game. The goal is to collect as many eggs as possible, and that wasn’t easy in the beginning. Now, with every round, I’m trying to beat my previous score. It’s the kind of loop that keeps pulling you back in.
2. Replayability Factor= High
You only use half the Lair deck in a game.
The 7 Predator and 7 Prey cards rarely show up all in one go.
The card-laying possibilities keep expanding with every play.
All these elements stack together (literally) to create fresh sessions each time.

3. Tense but Fair
Lizard’s Lair is a well-balanced game. With just the right mix of elements like eggs, snakes, boulders, crickets and a bit of push-your-luck, it keeps me on edge without making me feel overwhelmed.
Every round feels like it could be my last, yet there's always hope for a comeback!
The PnP files are FREE!
I was eyeing for a free PnP game, and I’m so glad I stumbled upon Lizard’s Lair. The files are available on Board Game Geek, and all you need is a few printed sheets, some tokens, and a single die to get started.
But, but…I suck at building games!
It’s been pointed out to me that building a game and playing it are two separate hobbies! So if you don’t have time to build it and also want to collect a mint tin game, you’re in for a treat!
The Mint Tin version of Lizard’s Lair is now available at The Game Crafter through the crowd sale. And judging by the quality of the deck and the tokens, it’s quite the deal!
You have 24 hours to enjoy the discount. Go for it!
So long, gamers!
